The Cure are thought to be one of the leading bands of alternative rock in the 1980's. They were formed in Crawley, Sussex in 1976 and lead by singer songwriter Robert Smith. They helped form the gothic rock genre and were known for their gloomy lyrics and dark music. So far the band have released 12 albums and over 30 singles. The double album 'Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me' was released in 1987 and went to number 6 in the UK charts.
